Middlefork Fire/Rescue is an all volunteer department that serves all of Powell County as needed. Our Primary Response area is the Mountain Parkway between the 28 Mile Marker and the 36 Mile Marker (Powell/Wolfe County Line), the towns of Bowen, Nada, and Slade and the areas of Natural Bridge Sate Park and parts of the Red River Gorge. Secondary Response areas include the City of Stanton, and the Red River Gorge in Menifee and Wolfe Counties as needed. Our Third Response area is Clay City area and any other surrounding counties when needed. Middlefork works in conjunction with the Stanton Fire Department and Clay City Fire/Rescue on a normal basis for calls to service as well as for training and special details.
We currently have 4 vehicles, 3 of which respond to calls for service. Engine 51 is a 1999 Pierce Freightliner FL70 Pumper with a 1000 gallon water tank, 20 gallon integrated foam tank, and a 1250 GPM pump and is our Primary Engine. It responds to all fire calls, and all car accidents. Tanker 51 is our Primary Water Tanker and carries 1800 gallons of water.
