The Middleport Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization established in the mid 1800s. We provide protection to 47 square miles including the villages of Middleport and Cheshire and Salisbury and Cheshire Townships. In addition to fire response, we also respond to calls for haz-mat, heavy rescue, and water and high angle rescue, with 2 engines, 1 ladder tower, 2 brush fire vehicles, rescue boat, and command vehicle. We currently have 23 active members including the staff of officers. We have an automatic response agreement with the 2 neighboring villages of Pomeroy and Rutland for structure fires and mutual aid agreements with the remainder of the departments in Meigs County and Mason County in West Virginia.
